Geotechnical InSAR Analyst - Mining

  • On-site, Hybrid
    • Delft, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands
  • Data Analytics

Job description

We are SkyGeo and every day we provide our clients with essential geotechnical insights that allow them to understand very early how ground movement will impact their valuable assets. We have built an excellent and diverse team to approach InSAR increasingly as a professional service.

To keep getting better at providing these insights at scale, we need the best people working with us. We are looking for colleagues who want to help build the business and grow professionally by discovering a wide range of applications.

Your Role & Impact 🌍

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer or geoscientist to join our team. As a Mining Geotechnical Analyst, you will play a critical role in processing and analyzing SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imagery specifically focused on mines and mining customers. You will dive deep into the InSAR outputs and other remote sensing data. Your expertise in geotechnical analysis will contribute to the optimization of mining operations, geohazard detection, and supporting decision-making processes for our mining clients.

  • Process SAR data and conduct InSAR analysis: Utilize our state-of-the-art in-house software tools and algorithms to preprocess SAR data

  • InSAR Data analysis: Identify and monitor ground deformation, subsidence, and other geological phenomena related to mining activities.

  • Interpret InSAR results and provide insightful reports to mining customers.

  • Ingest and analyse GIS data in the context of specific mining operations and put our processing outputs into context.

  • Collaborate with mining clients: Engage with mining industry stakeholders in online and offline meetings, including mining companies and geotechnical teams, to understand their specific requirements and challenges. Provide technical expertise and support in the application of InSAR for mining operations.

  • Geohazard detection and monitoring: Identify and assess potential geohazards, such as slope or dam instability and ground subsidence using InSAR data.

  • Data visualization and reporting: Generate clear and concise reports, maps, and visualizations (preferably using GIS software) to communicate InSAR results effectively to mining clients. Present findings in a comprehensible manner, including technical documentation and presentations.

  • Familiarity with mining industry operations, geotechnical considerations, and associated challenges are a plus

  • Experience with GIS environments (QGIS, ArcGIS etc.)

  • Knowledge of SAR imaging principles, interferometry, and InSAR processing techniques is an advantage

  • Experience working with SAR data from satellites such as Sentinel-1, ALOS PALSAR, or TerraSAR-X is an advantage

  • Experience working with other remote sensing data (optical, multi-spectral, LIDAR) or topographic data is an advantage

  • Experience in processing InSAR data over mining areas or similar complex environments.

  • Knowledge of geodetic surveying techniques and GPS/GNSS data processing.

  • Understanding of geology, mining engineering, and rock mechanics principles.

  • Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques applied to remote sensing data are a plus

What’s in it for you ✨
