Our clients use these insights to better understand ground movement around critical assets and operations. As we continue to grow our presence in the Asia-Pacific region, we are looking for an experienced geoscience professional who can connect our technology and data with the real-world challenges faced by mining and engineering teams.

Your Role & Impact

We are looking for a Geoscience Consultant who will help our customers implement and integrate InSAR data into their geotechnical and operational practices. Your focus will be on the technical success of our customers. You will work closely with geotechnical engineers, geologists and other domain experts to understand what is happening on site, combine InSAR with other available information and translate complex data into meaningful engineering insights. Mining will be an important part of your work. You will support customers in understanding deformation patterns related to slopes, tailings facilities, subsidence, infrastructure and other operational and geotechnical challenges. You will also bring your technical expertise into the commercial process, supporting our Sales team where a strong understanding of the customer's engineering problem is essential.

Your main responsibilities

• Work directly with geoscience and engineering teams to integrate InSAR into their monitoring and decision-making practices.

• Interpret deformation patterns in the context of mining operations, geology and geotechnical conditions.

• Combine InSAR observations with GIS, monitoring, geological and other remote or on-site datasets.

• Configure, understand and optimize SkyGeo data feeds for the projects you own.

• Develop compelling technical visualizations, including maps, graphs, cross-sections and animations.

• Provide technical advice and guidance to customers and project teams.

• Support our Sales team during technically complex opportunities and customer discussions.

• Work closely with SkyGeo's InSAR Engineers and Data Analytics team to ensure the data meets the needs of the application.

• Visit customer sites across the Asia-Pacific region and work directly with technical domain experts.

• Represent SkyGeo's technical expertise at relevant industry events and conferences.

• Rapidly learn about new technologies and continue developing new applications for SAR, InSAR and related monitoring data.

What you’ll bring to the team

• MSc or equivalent in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Surveying or a related discipline.

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within the mining industry.

• Strong understanding of geotechnical or geological challenges within operational mining environments.

• Experience working directly with technical customers, engineering teams and other domain experts.

• Ability to combine and interpret different datasets in the context of geology, geotechnical performance and operations.

• Experience with GIS and relevant technical or geoscience software.

• Experience with remote sensing, surveying or monitoring methods is a plus — we will teach you the InSAR essentials.

• Strong technical communication and visualization skills.

• Ability to work accurately and independently on complex technical problems.

• An inquisitive, practical mindset and an interest in discovering new applications and approaches.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• Willingness to travel within the Asia-Pacific region when required.

A note on location requirement

You will need to be based in Australia for this role, with Perth as our preferred location given the proximity to many of our customers and partners.
